hike in arcadia peloponnese

Not just a trail

A way of crossing the land.

Arcadia is a land you read with your feet.

Long before roads, its people crossed these mountains on stone-paved kalderimia, linking village to village, monastery to spring, summer pasture to winter fold. Those paths are still here. Some are waymarked and certified, like the 75 km of the Menalon Trail. Others run through the Tsakonian villages of Parnon down to the sea, or climb from Karytaina to the altar of Zeus on Mount Lykaion.

You walk from one village to the next, and in each there is a bed, a table and someone who knows the way on. We point you to the trail, the stage and the house that waits at the end of it.

"Arcadia is not simply a geographical destination,
it is a way of life and a universal symbol of serenity.

What every hike in Arcadia shares

Village to village — this is how these mountains were always crossed

Village to village — a stage ends at a square, a kafeneio and a bed, not at a car park.
Waymarked ground — the Menalon Trail is certified by the European Ramblers Association, and the Arcadia, Parnon and Pan trails are waymarked from village to village as part of the Peloponnese Trails network.
Four seasons — wild flowers in spring, fir shade in summer, chestnut woods in autumn, snow on the tops in winter.
Hosts who know the path — the members of the network will tell you where the next spring is, and what time to set off.
