HostSpending his childhood summers in Magouliana village of Arcadia, Stratis Batayas never forgot the abandoned mountain sanatorium hidden deep in the forest. Years later, he returned to transform that childhood memory into what is now MANNA.

The place

MANNA is a newly opened luxury mountain retreat in Magouliana, built within a restored mountain sanatorium deep in the fir forest of the Menalon Trail network. Expect a geothermal-heated hotel with spa, cave-inspired indoor pool and open-air cinema, a kitchen built on small local producers, and truffle hunts in the forest just beyond the door.

Before dusk, our footsteps led us to the abandoned sanatorium on the mountain. Even though it was in ruins, I always felt that there was positive energy surrounding the building. So, from then on, the idea entered my mind that at some point I wanted to revive this place.

Wild truffle hunting with Bianca the dog

A rejuvenating trek deep into the untamed fir forest, searching for prized black truffles with a specially trained Lagotto Romagnolo dog and certified guide, followed by a tasting.

Trekking the Menalon Trail

Sections of Greece's first certified trail pass right by MANNA, along the pristine pools of the Mylaon river and through virgin fir forest.

Lousios Gorge & the cliffside monasteries

Hike into the gorge to the Byzantine monasteries of Prodromos and Philosophos, ending with a swim in the river's cool pools.
