Our Arcadia, Our Hospitality

Not just a trail. The mountain Pan called home, and the villages still living on it.

Menalon isn’t one path or one village. It’s the fir-covered heart of Arcadia — peaks rising to Ostrakina at 1,981 metres, the Lousios Gorge with its monasteries set into the rock, and stone villages from Vytina and Piana to Dimitsana, Stemnitsa and Lagkadia, lived in all year round.

Snow on Ostrakina in winter, chestnut and fir forests in autumn, the watermills and tanneries that once ran on the Lousios. The Menalon Trail is one way across it — but the mountain, and the people hosting you on it, are the reason to come.

What every Arcadia experience shares

Not staged for visitors — this is how Menalon actually works

Living, not staged — the loom, the forge and the mill are still worked, not museum re-enactments.
People before postcards — every activity connects back to a member, a school, a village association.
Four seasons, many villages — gravel in spring, festivals in summer, monasteries and mills year-round.
Certified, waymarked ground — the same trail network that connects our stays connects our activities.

Who's actually on the mountain

Stone villages spread across the massif, from the fir forests around Vytina to the Lousios Gorge — with Tripoli, below its southeastern slopes, as the gateway city.

  • Piana — the closest to Tripoli
  • Dimitsana — Lousios Gorge, Water Power Museum
  • Stemnitsa — silversmiths, Moni Prodromou nearby
  • Zygovisti — between Dimitsana and Elati
  • Elati — fir-surrounded
  • Nymfasia — Mavra Litharia gorge
  • Magouliana — highest village in the Peloponnese
  • Valtesiniko — village of woodcarvers
  • Lagkadia — village of the stone builders
